Making it happen
Working in partnership
Effective joint working with partners, especially District Councils, the police, health and the third sector will ensure that we make better use of scarce resources and can also respond to very local or specialised needs.
The new focus on localism means that we want toensure that together we help communities to achieve what they aspire to. Devon County Council is focussing its efforts in this way through a variety of initiatives that respond to local need, and we recognise that by working in partnership the benefits to communities can be even greater.
A new way of working
Our new structure of People, Place and Corporate Services allows us to be much more flexible and adaptable and work across the authority as one council. A new corporate programme focusing on key priorities will continue to reform the ways we lead, influence, commission and deliver in the future.
Our medium-term financial strategy is closely aligned to our priorities and sets out a clear programme for our future spending and investment. This has served us well by ensuring limited funds are well-targeted and wisely used.
The new Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) that will establish a better way to increase investment in the vital infrastructure that growing communities need. The Bill allows for regulations to empower local councils to apply a Community Infrastructure Levy on new developments in their areas to support infrastructure delivery.
A Public Sector Pathfinder project will help to rationalise public sector assets.
We will implement the Council’s Workforce Development Plan, especially regarding leadership and management and commissioning skills.
